August Lunch - We meet again

It was so good to be back at Cuddington Golf Club for a lunch with friends around the table and with an excellent talk afterwards.

Our Chairman John was pleased to welcome back twenty seven members to Cuddington for what was his third real lunch since taking office in January 2020. He asked us to take a one minute's silence to remember those members who had passed away during the last eighteen months, Roger Mills, Campbell McPhee and Doug Mathews. Moving on he was able to present, somewhat belatedly, a bottle of claret to mark the eightieth birthdays of both David Petrie and Keith Robinson.

After an excellent lunch of Grilled fillet of Trout we were pleased to welcome David Skillen to tell us all about the Bentley Boys.

It was almost unbelievable listening as David told us of the exploits of the first participants at the Le Mans 24hr races, no safety systems, racing in tweeds, picnicking on the Mulsanne Straight, the drivers doing all their own tyre changes and repairs, and of course filling up the petrol tank whilst smoking a cigarette!!

We all wanted a Bentley after listening to David but sadly I don't think any of us has quite enough in the bank! Thanks David, we all live in hope of winning the Lottery soon.
