This month Brian Rogers was the lucky recipient of a bottle to celebrate his 80th birthday. Lunch was an Open Beef & Mushroom Pie, Horseradish Mash, Spiced Roast Squash followed by Banoffee Pie, it was just unfortunate that so few members were present to enjoy it. September was one of the lowest attendances for some while as many of you took the opportunity to enjoy holidays in the sun, no doubt passing through the subject of the day's talk!
Our speaker Alan Gallop, whose talk was entitled “Heathrow Airport – Yesterday; Today & Tomorrow” gave us the background to the development of the airport through which most of us have passed and where some of us had worked. It was interesting to find that even the early plans included the extra runway which is now sought.
