September outing to Leonardslee Gardens

Our first outing of the year and an excellent way to meet up with friends in the wonderful gardens and lakes at Leonardslee. We made our own way to Leonardslee, just south of Horsham, meeting up for a coffee in their well stocked Cafe before being taken on a guided tour. Unfortunately only sixteen of us were able to attend, I suspect that rather like last week's lunch a lot of us were still on holiday.

For the tour we had two groups, one for those who wanted a gentle stroll whilst the other were happy to tackle the steep paths down to the lakes in the bottom of the valley.

In addition to the gardens there are numerous sculptures some of which are quite remarkable

The gardens were re-opened in 2019 after a closure of nearly ten years and there has been a significant investment in restoring the walkways and garden areas as well as planting the UK's first Commercial pinotage vineyard.

After our guided tour we continued around the lakes before heading back for lunch in the Cafe followed by a visit to the fascinating Dolls House Museum all in 1/2th scale.

Many thanks to my fellow visitors and especially to Norman for arranging the outing on such a lovely day. Looking forward to lots more fun next year.
